Environmental Officer at Fortifikationsverket

Do you want to work with socially important construction projects and contribute to sustainable development within the defense sector? Fortifikationsverket is now looking for several Environmental Officers for the project department's project support unit and our environmental group.

We are currently seeking several Environmental Officers for our environmental group located in Eskilstuna/Stockholm or as agreed. The Environmental Officer supports our project managers and helps ensure that the projects meet relevant environmental requirements, comply with environmental laws and regulations.

Your daily life as an Environmental Officer

As an Environmental Officer, you provide qualified support to our project managers and help ensure that our investment projects meet applicable environmental requirements and legislation. You coordinate environmental issues in several parallel projects and participate throughout the project's lifecycle – from planning to implementation and follow-up.

You work closely with project managers, consultants, and contractors, as well as in dialogue with supervisory authorities. In this role, you also collaborate with other specialists within Fortifikationsverket. For example, you will:

  • Identify and assess environmental aspects
  • Review and ensure documentation for environmental assessments
  • Conduct site visits and participate in meetings with consultants and contractors
  • Participate in dialogue and consultations with supervisory authorities
  • Conduct environmental inspections and follow up on environmental requirements in projects.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in environmental technology or environmental science, or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience
  • Good familiarity with reading, interpreting, and applying Swedish environmental legislation
  • Practical experience in environmental work, such as environmental investigations, environmental control, and follow-up in projects
  • Experience working as an Environmental Officer, Environmental Coordinator, or in a similar role
  • Driver's license class B

It is advantageous if you have experience in:

  • Environmental surveys for demolition and renovation projects
  • Environmental sampling in contaminated land and water areas, as well as material handling
  • Work related to water activities.

About the employment

The position is a permanent employment and may begin with a probationary period. As a permanent employee, you will be assigned to a military position. The place of employment is Eskilstuna or Stockholm as agreed. Employment with us requires Swedish citizenship and involves placement in a security class. A security clearance with a background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act.
